Leading care institutions in the South Holland and Zeeland area will collaborate more intensively and exchange information via Zorgplatform. Healthcare organisations involved, including Erasmus MC, are pleased with this initiative. The cooperation between the ten care organisations is in line with the government's line of development, which is firmly committed to better cooperation and electronic data exchange between care institutions and patients.

Working together is the future of care

Directors of the various care organisations met on 10 October 2019 to add their signatures to this innovative collaboration. Mark Janssen, member of the board of directors for Franciscus Gasthuis & Vlietland and chairman of the regional IT advisory board says,"Collaboration in health care is becoming increasingly important, because patients often purchase care from several care providers. With this initiative, affiliated care organisations can easily exchange patient data with each other via one well-secured system, which offers integration with existing care systems. By combining forces we manage the high infrastructure costs and we minimise the risk of a data breach."

"Improving care"

David Voetelink, vice-chairman of the Erasmus MC Executive Board says,"The exchange of patient data between healthcare providers makes patient care better, cheaper and faster. The step that we've taken now, in addition to the already existing exchange of images via XDS in our region, is important for the cooperation between doctors and nurses of the affiliated institutions.  In this way, we are working on improving healthcare in the Rotterdam region."

  • Albert Schweitzer ziekenhuis
  • Erasmus MC
  • Van Weel-Bethesda Ziekenhuis
  • IJsselland Ziekenhuis

Together with the healthcare provider

Remko Nienhuis, R&D Manager at ChipSoft says,"We are delighted to achieve a fast and secure data exchange in such a large-scale project which contributes to the treatment of patients. The exchange of data must be integrated into the daily work process of the healthcare provider. This is only possible with the help of the care institutions and the doctors and nurses involved. Working together in healthcare is more than just exchanging data."
